Grants for Non-Profit Organizations

The Giants Community Fund is committed to supporting the efforts of organizations that enhance the educational experiences of children, especially in underserved communities. We are proud to have many relationships with programs that demonstrate the value of education. Please check back in April for details regarding the 2010 grant application process.

Harmon and Sue Burns Scholarship Fund

In honor of the late Harmon and Sue Burns, the Giants Community Fund has renamed the Junior Giants Scholars program the Harmon and Sue Burns Scholarship Fund. We are thankful to have had the Burns' support of our community programs and hope that this scholarship will honor their generous spirit for years to come. Ten $2,500 scholarships are given out each year to participants of the Junior Giants program. Scholars are eighth-grade participants of the Junior Giants program who are nominated by their coaches and selected on the basis of leadership, character and academic potential.

The criteria for each level is as follows:

  • 2nd base - read 240 minutes
  • 3rd base - read 480 minutes
  • Home Run - 720 minutes
The guidelines and scorecard are included in the Junior Giants Handbook are distributed to all participants.
