Shana Daum is entering her 23rd season with the Giants. She initially joined the Giants in 1999 to assist with the public relations efforts during the final construction phase of Oracle Park as well as its opening celebrations. Since 2001, she has overseen public affairs and community relations, and is responsible for community outreach, partnerships and initiatives; business public relations, communications strategy and media activities; and player, alumni and family relations. She also works in collaboration with the Giants Community Fund to support the organization’s flagship community program Junior Giants. Daum has played an integral role in many of the organization’s ceremonies, celebrations and awareness events including Until There’s A Cure Day, Strike Out Violence Day, Girls Day, Opening Day festivities, Wall of Fame inductions, World Series Trophy tours and Bochy’s farewell. She has been a member of the Giants DE&I Council since 2017 and in June of 2020 became co-chair of a reconvened and reorganized Council of 26 members who have lead the organization through some of its most challenging times in confronting social injustices and working to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace for Giants employees.
Daum’s career in sports media and public relations spans three decades and includes stops with three professional Bay Area teams before joining the Giants, including the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Spiders (International Hockey League) and San Jose Lasers (American Basketball League).
She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and received her Master’s in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. Daum serves on the board of Bishop O’Dowd High School and is a member of Multiplying Good/Jefferson Awards Students In Action Bay Area Advisory Board.
Daum lives in Oakland with her husband, Rick, and their daughters, Eleanor and Grace.
