Amy Tovar serves as Senior Vice President & General Counsel for the San Francisco Giants, providing counsel to all departments within the organization. Entering her eighth season, she handles a wide range of legal matters involving business transactions, corporate governance, government affairs, litigation, intellectual property, real estate, baseball operations, and other initiatives. She is a member of the Giants’ DE&I Council and is the executive sponsor for Momentum, the Giants’ women’s network. She helps lead the Giants’ strategic planning effort.
Prior to joining the Giants, Tovar served in the Obama Administration at the Department of Transportation as Associate General Counsel; worked as a litigator at Munger, Tolles & Olson in San Francisco; and clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago. She sits on the board of directors of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area and the San Francisco Symphony’s Junior Committee. She is part of an effort to bring a professional women’s soccer team to the Bay Area.
A Peninsula native, Tovar attended Stanford University and Stanford Law School, and now lives in Burlingame with her husband, Ben, and children, Jack and Carolina.
